Arizona Glass Alliance will be taking a one day trip to Tucson on Saturday, Feb. 8. We’ll leave from a convenient Scottsdale location at 8 AM by private chartered bus (with bathroom) and return around 6:30. In Tucson we’ll have a great time including:
A visit to the High Priority studio of Mark Leputa (www.markleputa.wordpress.com) and Steve Hagan (www.stevehagandesigns.com). Both Mark and Steve’s work is shown by galleries across the country and both of them will be available to discuss their careers and work. You’ll find each of them engaging and interesting as artists and people.
A docent led tour of the annual Arizona Artists Invitational exhibition of art in various mediums at the Tucson Art Museum (www.tucsonmuseumofart.org). This is a curated show which always receives very good reviews.
A visit to the Sonoran Glass School (www.sonoranglass.org) where they will tell us all about the wonderful work they do with kids and other would be artists, as well as a short demo. Arizona Glass Alliance has given the Sonoran Glass School several grants over the years, and this will be a good chance to learn about one of our grant recipient organizations.
A visit to the Philabaum Gallery in their brand new location. Alison Harvey, who owns and runs the gallery, exhibits work by many artists of national reputation, and in addition she will have work on display from a number of Tucson artists, many of whom will be in attendance (www.philabaumglass.com). Philabaum represents many of our Arizona Glass Alliance artist members as well: Bandhu Dunham, Jennifer Caldwell, Suzanne Chudnoff, Jordan Ford, Austin Littenberg, Cynthia Miller,
Sandy Pendleton and Carol Perry.
Lunch at Tavolino Ristorante (www.TavolinoRistorante.com)
Cost for the day, including the private bus, lunch and museum admission, will be $150 per person. We’ll need a minimum of 20 participants to make the trip work, and the maximum will be 50. Your check made payable to Arizona Glass Alliance, 12026 N. 118th Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85259, will be your reservation (or you can pay by Zelle at fred@azglassalliance.org).
