On Monday evening, Arizona Glass Alliance will very happily host a presentation by the noted glass artist Susan Longini. Susan is an old friend of Arizona Glass Alliance, having worked closely with us to help make both of our trips to the Bay area highly successful. Perhaps even more importantly, Susan is a very talented artist working in glass, and a delightful person. Those of you who were part of our recent trip to the Bay area will remember that Susan was one of the artists whose work was on display at the Jay Musler Gallery.
Susan works in pate de verre to create wonderful, delicate sculptures, many of which look like quilts or landscapes, only made from glass. Susan has perfected her own unique style which is instantly recognizable for its texture and artistic composition, and an example of one of Susan’s current works is shown below. To learn more about Susan, and see more of her work, please visit her website, www.susanlongini.com.
In addition to her work as an independent studio artist Susan has also taught at various venues in California and elsewhere, and her work is represented in museum, corporate and municipal collections in California, Japan, Portugal and India to name a few. Susan also has been an effective administrator, and currently in her spare time is the Program Manager of the City of Fremont’s Utility Box Project which is charged with turning the City’s 165 traffic signal boxes into works of art! Finally, Susan is a simply delightful and charming person whom you will definitely enjoy getting to know.
