Monday, October 12, 2020 7:00 PM MST (Phoenix Time) Zoom Online
As our lead off event of the 2020-21 season, Arizona Glass Alliance, with the cooperation and sponsorship of Duncan McClellan Gallery, is proud to host a virtual presentation by the very well known glass sculptor Richard Royal. Richard, who hails from the Pacific Northwest, has long been recognized as one of the pre-eminent sculptors working in blown glass today. Richard originally started in 1978 working with Dale Chihuly and the Pilchuck glass school, where he honed his skills before establishing his own artistic practice in the 1980’s. Since then Richard has emerged as a leading glass artist whose work has continually evolved and grown over the years into ever new and exciting directions.
Richard’s creations have been exhibited by major galleries around the country in addition to Duncan McClellan Gallery, and are represented in the collections of many museums, such as the Mint Museum, the Museum of Art & Design and the Daiichi Museum of Japan. Richard has taught and/or been artist-in-residence or featured artist at all of the leading glass centers around the country, including multiple stints at Pilchuck and the Museum of Glass. An image of one of Richard’s recent sculptures is shown below, and to see more of this work please take a look at his website, www.richardroyalstudio.com or at the Duncan McClellan Gallery website, www.dmglass.com, and we thank them for their support and sponsorship of this event
