On Monday evening, Arizona Glass Alliance members will be treated to a presentation by glass sculptor Mariel Bass. Mariel has an interesting professional background, having received her BFA degree from the Massachusetts College of Art, then running a recycled glass studio in Maho Bay, St. John, US Virgin Islands, then a seven year stint with Duncan McClellan at his St. Petersburg, Florida studio and now an instructor and independent glass artist at the MIT Glass Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her work has been shown at galleries across the country, and as you can see from the attached image, her work has a lot of humor as well as great technique.
