Philabaum Reception

After tending the fire for 43 years, Tom Philabaum will turn off his glass furnace for the last time at the end of April. The show celebrates his glass blowing career of almost five decades and the finale of the hot shop.

“The Flame”, a comprehensive show celebrating almost five decades of Philabaum’s work, will open at the gallery on Saturday, February 3rd  with an opening reception from 5-8pm. At 5pm, Tom will give a talk on his career, followed by a video presentation and reception.  (A limited number of seats will be available at the studio but he will repeat the presentation again at the Tucson Museum of Art on March 31st. For details visit https://tucsonmuseumofart.org/event/leadership-circle-lecture-series-the-flame-tom-philabaum/ )

Though the furnace will be dismantled at the end of April, Tom will continue to paint and fuse glass in the studio space and the Gallery will remain open indefinitely.

PWR! During the month of February, a percentage of sales of Philabaum’s work will be donated to the PWR!Gym, a Tucson, research-based non-profit dedicated to slowing the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.
