On Monday evening, March 9, Arizona Glass Alliance will very happily host a presentation by glass artist Paul Messink. Paul creates beautiful multi-layer glass panel work which results in a wonderful finished image when it’s all put together. Paul describes his work this way: “I’m often drawn to the ethereal, to the “unknown” hidden in the mist. Mystery and a slight melancholy run through many of my pieces, which I create by fusing anywhere from 9 to 32 layers of hand-enameled glass into a single, thick panel. Each layer contains a part of the final image and when fused, the finished work contains unique depth, dimension, and interaction with light not found in other painted art forms. My goal is to draw the viewer into the work of art, transforming a painting into something more.”
An image of one of Paul’s pieces, “The Green Mile”, which recently won Best in Show at the Glass National Exhibit in Lorton, VA, is shown below, and to see more of Paul’s work please visit his website, www.paulmessink.com. You will find Paul to be very interesting, both as an artist as well as a person.
This event will be held at our normal venue, the Scottsdale Ranch clubhouse, which is located at 10585 N. 100th Street, just south of Shea in Scottsdale, and will begin at 7:30.
