On Monday evening, December 9, Arizona Glass Alliance will host a presentation by Michael Mikula, who creates unique sculptures from blown glass and metal. Michael, who hails from Cleveland, has been a resident at Wheaton Village and has been awarded both a Cuyahoga County Fellowship as well as an Ohio Arts Council Award of Excellence.
Michael says that he is always looking up, examining the constructed environment for its patterns, forms and details to spark his imagination. Michael calls his body of work which highlights the visual effects of positive and negative form “Architectronic Blown Glass”. According to Michael his use of color is purposely understated to focus attention on form and how the imagery and light is captured and reflected through the glass. An image of one of Michael’s sculptures is shown below, and for more information on Michael, including images of more work, take a look at his website, www.mikulaglass.com.
