Sunday, March 26 Optional Brunch: 11 AM Phoenix City Grille 5816 N. 16th St. Phoenix, AZ ——————— 1:30 PM Presentation Circle 6 Gallery 2040 E. Thomas Rd. Phoenix, AZ
On Sunday, March 26, Arizona Glass Alliance and Circle 6 Gallery will proudly host an exhibition and presentation by glass and mixed media artist James Labold. The presentation will begin at 1:30 at the new Circle 6 gallery. In addition, there will be an optional brunch at 11 AM that morning at Phoenix City Grille.
James Labold is no stranger to Phoenix, having worked here in 2004-05 with the Newt Glass studio, as well as participating in a multi-artist exhibition at the old Circle 6 Gallery in 2015. James has been working in glass since receiving his undergraduate degree from Tyler School of Art in 2004, and his work has been recognized twice in the “New Glass Review”. In addition, James received the Glass Art Society Saxe Emerging Artist Award in 2016.
James works in a variety of mediums including blown and cast glass, neon, paintings, water colors and collages. James describes his work as exploring the connections between patriotism, national identity and mythology, themes that are certainly relevant today. An example of one of James current works which incorporates both glass and neon is shown below. For the exhibition James will have several works on display, and to learn more about James and his work please take a look at his website, www.jameslabold.com.
The optional brunch will be held in a private room at Phoenix City Grille at 11 AM. The menu will be similar, but not identical, to the weekend brunch menu on their website, www.phoenixcitygrille.com. The cost will be $22 per person to include choice of the menu, a non alchoholic beverage, tax and tip. Since the capacity of the room is 50 people, reservations for the brunch will be strictly on a first come-first served basis, with your check made payable to Arizona Glass Alliance as your reservation ticket.
This should be a great day to socialize with your fellow members, get to know an up-and-coming young artist who is doing very interesting work, and see the new Circle 6 Gallery, all in one day. Click here for a map of the new Circle 6 location.
