On Monday evening, March 20, Arizona Glass Alliance will very happily host a presentation by glass sculptor Grant Garmezy. Born and raised on a working farm just outside Nashville, Tennessee, Grant’s interest in animals and natural forms is reflected in his beautiful glass sculptures.
Since 2009 Grant has operated his own studio where he creates his work, which is always sculptural and never functional. Grant’s work has been exhibited many times at SOFA Chicago, as well as at Wheaton Village. Grant has taught at such prestigious places as Pilchuck and the Toledo Museum, as well as schools in Korea and Japan, and produces glasswork and media content for the likes of Discovery+, Paramont Studios and Universal Studios His work has been featured on the cover of Glass Art Magazine and can be found in numerous collections worldwide. Fortunately, Grant is currently teaching at our own Sonoran Glass School in Tucson, which is why he is able to be with us.
An example of Grant’s work is shown below, and to see more of Grant’s work please take a look at his website, www.grantgarmezyglass.com. When you check out Grant’s website be sure to check out the U-TUBE video of Grant creating a sea turtle. Click on the “About” tab, then on the “Artist” tab, and follow the timeline till you come to the link for the video in the 2013 material.
