As our first event of the 2018-19 season Arizona Glass Alliance will proudly host a presentation on Monday evening, September 24, by the internationally know artist Erika Tada. Erika, who will be visiting us from Japan, creates very unique, often humorous sculptures, using both cast glass and pate de verre techniques. Erika is a master of her technique and, to quote her, “her artwork cherishes her personal experiences and the feelings associated with them through the use of objects that play key roles in commemorating her memories.”
Erika has won numerous awards and has held teaching positions at several well known schools, including Pilchuck, Corning and Penland. Her work is included in museum collections in Europe, the US and Japan, as well as many private collections. Presently, Erika is teaching glass art at Tokyo University of the Arts. An example of Erika’s work is shown below, but she does many different things, so to see more of her work take a look at her website, www.tadaerika.com.
