On Monday evening, Arizona Glass Alliance will very proudly host a presentation by the internationally known glass artist and gallerist, Duncan McClellan. Duncan is a man of many and varied talents, whose work can be found in many private collections. Duncan uses a wide variety of techniques, including grail, overlay, acid etching and grinding to create wonderful, vibrant pieces with terrific imagery, often both on the inside and outside of a piece. Just one example of Duncan’s work is shown below, and to see much more go to his website, www.dmglass.com.
In addition to his work as an artist, Duncan also operates a highly successful gallery and studio in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he took an old tomato processing plant and transformed it into a 7,800 indoor, outdoor gallery and studio, and in the process became a leader in transforming the old warehouse district into the new St. Petersburg arts district. At his studio Duncan represents a stable of many leading artists whose names you will recognize. In addition, Duncan has founded the DMG School Project which has done demos for over 100,000 visitors, mostly school kids, as well as sponsored lectures for the public in partnership with the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts. You can also learn more about Duncan’s gallery and non-profit activities at the same website, www.dmglass.com.
