January 9, 2016 1:00 PM Lisa Sette Gallery 210 E. Catalina Dr., Phoenix, AZ
On Saturday afternoon, January 9, Lisa Sette Gallery, our newest gallery member, will host a private reception for an exciting new glass and mixed media artist, Charlotte Potter, just for the members of Arizona Glass Alliance. Lisa Sette Gallery is mounting an exhibition of new work by Charlotte, which will open to the public later that evening. Charlotte will be present at the Arizona Glass Alliance event, and will discuss her work.
Charlotte Potter is a conceptual artist and designer who was trained as a traditional glassblower, but has been a pioneer in developing glass as a performance and conceptual medium. Charlotte has co-founded the Cirque de Verre and the Glass Theater performance troupes that have performed at Corning and the Toledo Museum of Art. Her mixed media sculptures have been exhibited worldwide, and her work is in the permanent collection of the American Museum of Glass and the Chrysler Museum of Art, where Charlotte also serves as the Glass Studio Manager.
As Charlotte says “All of my work is really about trying to articulate relationships in the world. The Cameo work is specifically about trying to articulate relationships in the modern age through virtual personas. What I’m interested in is how these personas play out in our lives…and how to make them physical again.” An example of Charlotte’s work is shown below, and to see more visit her website, www.charlottepotter.com.
The event will begin at 1 PM on Saturday afternoon, January 9, at the Lisa Sette Gallery, which is located at 210 E. Catalina Drive in Phoenix. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to get to know one of the most exciting new conceptual artists working in glass today. By the way, the Lisa Sette Gallery is located quite close to the Phoenix Art Museum, so you may want to combine a visit to the museum with this event.
